Fall & Flannel

Happy TGIF! Woot, woot! I am ready for some football! Even though I still have to wait until Sunday but still it's getting closer and closer. Anyone else excited for football? Have any big plans for the weekend? I'm pretty sure it is going to be a very relaxing weekend for me. Nothing big happening and I am fine with that. :)

Today's post is an outfit I put together that is more of a casual day time look for the fall. Fall in Southern Cali is usually 60 degree weather during the day. Which is why I don't mind rocking a skater skirt without any leggings. One thing I love about fall is wearing a comfy warm flannel. I like dressing flannel's up to give off a cute girly flare without getting out the bedazzle. No need to get ridiculously cheesy which are the exact words that come to mind when I think of the bedazzle.

Lulu's Horizantal Stripe Dress

Happy Thirsty Thursday! I indulged my taste buds by drinking a delicious Thai iced tea today. All that sugar has made me a bit hyper! I just know that in about twenty minutes from now I will be off my sugar high and ready for pajama's and a bedtime story... um... I mean... opps! Why yes I am a grown up who still likes a bedtime story before bed. Instead of being read a fairy tale I now read to myself and read grown up books like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I just came to the realization that my choice of a book to read before bed and my obsession with Law & Order SVU may be why I've been a bit jumpy lately and looking at the opposite sex like men are all up to no good. I may want to cut back on my tortured woman seeking revenge kick I've been on.

Now onto a completely different topic today's post is centered around a dress I ordered on LuLu's website several months ago. I remember that I won LuLu's Wordy Wednesday that LuLu's post on their facebook page. If you don't know about this contest just fyi when you like their page on fb they post a picture of an item they are selling and you have to describe the item in... I believe it's five words. If they pick you at random you receive a $50 gift card! Woot, Woot! Now back to the dress, I love how form fitting this dress is and how the length hits me just a little above my knee. Which reminds me I finally watched the series finale of What Not To Wear last night so as I was picking my outfit for today Clinton and Stacy's rules kept playing in my mind. Now even though horizontal stripes may create an illusion of appearing wider perfect fit trumps that idea therefore I'm right back to being a good What Not To Wear student Yay, go me! :)

Summer to Fall Outfits - Sweet Green Floral Dress

Happy Hump Day! If only I could be the camel from the GEICO commercials. I feel that you guys would feel as if I'm being really genuine when I wish you a happy hump day and also you would appreciate me giving you advice on affordable car insurance... and just like that I completely lost my train of thought... Now that I've made things weird let me get to the actual topic at hand.

Today is my final Summer to Fall post. I think that I can safely say that it's officially fall in SO CAL. I know I keep saying that but this time I'm pretty confident in this statement. Today's post is about a cute floral dress I found while shopping in downtown L.A. I purchased this dress a few years ago and I can't remember the stores name for the life of me. The strange thing is that I'm pretty positive that I didn't purchase it around the fashion district which is where most people go around downtown to find a good deal on trendy items. Even with me blanking on the name of the store I still adore this dress and have loved wearing it for the last three years and don't intend on parting with it at least not anytime soon.

Summer to Fall Outfits - Apple Pattern Dress

Happy Tuesday! With the recent time change it's definitely starting to feel like fall is SO CAL. There's still a few random warm days here and there. It's going to happen it's Southern California the sunshine just loves being the center of attention in Los Angeles. If only the sun wanted to poke it's pretty little head in the Midwest while I was in school. I swear we wouldn't see sunlight for months! Talk about depressing. :/

Today's post is another Summer to Fall outfit... big shocker! I actually really enjoy creating two different looks no matter what the weather is. I like reminding myself that versatile pieces are a plus and that I'm getting moneys worth when I can wear items in my closet for any climate. I purchased this apple patterned dress at Lauren's Closet a couple year ago. I love the sweet pattern and how girly the form of the dress is. I think I am very drawn to pretty and playful things. I guess no matter how old I get there's apart of me that will always love playing dress up.

Fall Wishlist

Happy Monday! Did everyone have a good weekend? I had a good weekend for the most part. I got in touch with my inner chef. That's right no microwaving for this girl... well at least not this past weekend. I watched the UFC fights with my babe on Saturday and watched Da Bears win in overtime against the Super bowl champs The Baltimore Ravens. Since the Detroit Lions lost to the Steelers on Sunday Da Bears and the Lions are tied for first... again! Woohoo!

Today's post is my fall wishlist. All the things I would buy if I woke up tomorrow with a few extra dollars in my bank account. I am loving mustard yellow and emerald green this fall. Riding boots are a must have for day to day casual wear and a cross body bag is a go to for me. It's stylish and can be used for day or evening. At least I like to think so. :)

Top Left: Nordstrom/Marc by Marc Jacobs/classic Q Natasha Mini Crossbody flap bag - $298

Bottom Right: Nordstrom/Louise et Cie 'Vivah' Boot - $239.95

Summer to Fall Outfits - Anthropologie 1950's style top

Happy Saturday! It's the weekend woohoo! I hope ya'll are enjoying your weekend. I have been in touch with the inner cook this weekend. I hardly ever cook and if I do I usually bake. I made gnocchi chicken pesto last night and made bacon, eggs and toast this morning. I know it doesn't seem like a lot but this girl usually grabs the cereal box instead of a pot and pan. I'm kind of proud of myself because the last time I tried to cook bacon I burnt it to a crisp... literally.

Today's Summer to Fall post is a retro 1950's inspired top I purchased a couple years ago. I really like adding a splash of red to white and black outfits just to give a little extra boom, pop and pow! :)

Winter Coats

Happy Thirsty Thursday! I enjoyed a yummy glass of Gatorade G2 Perform the grape flavor. I like this particular Gatorade because it's lower calorie than regular Gatorade and tastes delicious. What about you guys, any delicious drinks worth indulging in today?

Today's post is about trying to find the perfect winter coat. I feel I need to state the obvious that when you live in SOCAL you don't need a super thick Eskimo looking coat. I do however need a coat to keep me warm on nights when my faux leather jackets just wont do the trick. I found five drool worthy coats while I was browsing online. I would love to hang all of these coats up in my closest. Please let me know what you think of my finds.

  • Left: MANGO/Military Style Wool Blend Trench Coat - $189.99
  • Top Right: DKNY/DKNY Jeans Pieced Trench Coat - $179.50
  • Bottom Right: Zara/Combined Faux Leather Coat in camel - $179.00

  • Left: Nordstrom/ Kristen Blake/Skirt Back Peacoat - $179.90
  • Right: Express EXPRESS/Asymmetrical Knit Trimmed Wool Blend Coat - $138.60

Summer to Fall Outfit - ASOS Skater Skirt in Sweet Pea Print

Happy Hump day! Today's Summer to Fall post is about my ASOS Skater Skirt in Sweet Pea Print that I ordered around... last spring. I love skater skirts and I probably own around six skater skirts in different patterns and colors (I have a problem). I especially like them because of my bladder condition. I don't like wearing fitted jeans or pencil skirts for more than a few hours because my bladder feels confined which causes a flare up. So when I can I like wearing loose fitted clothing like maxi skirts and dresses and of course skater skirts. :)

Summer to Fall - Anthropologie Colorful Pattern Top

Happy Tuesday! Today's post is another Summer to Fall post this time focusing on one of my favorite tops in my closet a very colorful top from Anthropologie. I don't remember what the original name of this top was. Like many items I have from Anthropologie I bought it on sale because well... their regular price items are way too high for my blood. I bought this top two years ago and still love wearing it. Anything with bright colors and lots of pattern is something I would love... well maybe not anything but it's about an eighty percent chance I will love it. :)
